Sarah Louise Kinsella is a self-taught photographic artist based in Australia who explores concepts of identity.
Creating visual narratives focused on the intimacy of desire through photographic and sculptural constructs, Sarah’s photographic essays are a glimpse into the authentic self of her subjects (from her perspective). Her images often distract the viewer with tensions of nudity, bodily freedom and performance. Sarah’s interested in the role fashion plays in forming people’s identities as she creatively and visually narrates the perceptions of her subjects (a curiosity influenced by her career as Creative Director – Louise Agency).
Rarely grounded in the same place for long, her most significant move was to England in 2002. It was during her time in the UK Kinsella sojourned across Europe, experiencing a surge of artistic growth.
Influenced by an immersion in European cultures, Kinsella learned the nuances of photography, absorbing and mirroring her father's passion for the pursuit. Sarah graduated IB Visual Arts in 2005 with an impressive result to secure a coveted place at the prestigious Central Saint Martin's College in London.
With a solid foundation in Spatial Design behind her, Sarah returned home to continue Printmedia and Life Drawing studies at Sydney College of the Arts. A pathway to Graphic Design, Kinsella later formed her own independent creative agency, specialising in branding and strategy.
As an emerging mixed media contemporary artist, Sarah's transition back into the visual arts landscape is testament to her creative tenacity and resolve. A student of her surroundings, she’s transformed her craft into a creative discipline.
